To teach the safety requirements and associated job safety knowledge to users of safety harnesses. To conform with the relevant recommendations and standards of the HSC Approved Code of Practice and Supplementary Guidance.

  • PUWER & LOLER
  • Health and Safety at Work Act
  • Construction Welfare Regulations
  • EN Product Standards
  • Personal Protective Equipment Regulations

COURSE CONTENTS (PRACTICAL)

  • Situations where a MEWP can tip
  • Precautions to be taken before using the MEWP
  • When harnesses need to be worn - high risk activities
  • Differences between Fall Restraint and Fall Arrest and which to use
  • Length of lanyards and retractable lanyards
  • Energy absorbers and low height operations
  • In the event of a fall suspension trauma - watch points
  • Identifying marks (BS EN 365:1993), Pre-use inspection, detailed inspection - recording
  • Interim inspection - severe conditions - recording
  • Examples of defects and damage harness, lanyard and connector
  • Where to anchor, designated anchor points - fall restraint or fall arrest, retractable lanyards
  • Manufacturers recommendations
