NOTES

Novice courses for forwards motion only or when no towing of trailers is required may be reduced to 7.5 hours in length.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

To train personnel in the practical skills and job safety knowledge necessary for the operation of tow tractor and trailers to the accredited standards of ITSSAR and the ABA Workplace Transport 2012.

COURSE CONTENTS (THEORY)

  • Course induction and registration
  • Health and safety at work requirements
  • Tow Tractor / Personnel Carrier Operating Safety
  • Film: "Dead Lucky" or "Transport Kills"

COURSE CONTENTS (PRACTICAL)

  • Introduction to the machine
  • Control familiarisation
  • Daily checks and fault reporting
  • Battery charging and refuelling procedures
  • Maneouvring practice (unladen)
  • Coupling uncoupling maneouvring with Trailers
  • Reversing single trailers (through various courses)
  • Use of attachments (where applicable)
  • Practical skill tests

COURSE DOCUMENTATION

Training records and Progressive Assessment report forwarded to employer. TOP Scheme registration completed on behalf of customer.
