Accreditation, Registration and Certification

On completion of the course you will be issued with Category 4 – ITSSAR approved Tutor qualifications (if you are employed full time with one company), or Category 2 or 3 (as appropriate) if you are operating as a commercial trainer.

Delegate Status

The course is ideally suited to qualified instructors who have had at least 12 months experience in training novice operators and are registered Category 1 ITSSAR Instructors.

A fully trained Tutor is expected to meet the following performance criteria:

  • Unit 1: Health and Safety – Provisions for Training
  • Unit 2: Role and Responsibilities of the Instructor
  • Unit 3: Qualities of the Instructor
  • Unit 4: Preparation and Planning of Training
  • Unit 5: Instructional Techniques
  • Unit 6: Job and Skill Analysis
  • Unit 7: Visual Aids
  • Unit 8: Practical Instruction
  • Unit 9: Classroom Instruction
  • Unit 10: Basic Skills Test
  • Unit 11: Reports, Certification and Training Records
  • Unit 12: ITSSAR Policies and Procedures

These modules are assessed during Category 1 Instructor Training Courses.

Structure of the Course

  • Stage 1: Attend a 10 day Instructor course at TAL, observing our Tutor.
  • Stage 2: At a later date, attend 10 day instructor course at TAL, to assist our tutor.
  • Stage 3: Set up a 10 day course at your own Training Centre with guidance from our tutor. This will need to be monitored by ITSSAR and will require a qualified tutor to be in attendance for part of the course – the exact duration to be arranged at the time.
  • Stage 4:  The delegate conducts at least one 10-day Instructor Accreditation course at his own training centre, unaided.  (if he fails to achieve the required standard, further unaided 10 day courses must be conducted until the standard is met)

Assessments and Monitoring

Throughout training, performance is recorded in an ITSSAR portfolio and only when all 12 units of the performance criteria are met will applicants be given Category 4 accreditation.

The portfolio is examined and signed off by the visiting Training Standards Advisor.

Comprehensive Course Manuals are issued to each delegate.
